About Dottie Lee
Dottie Lee is an award-winning children’s author, dance educator, and lifelong storyteller who believes it’s never too late to follow your creative calling.

She is the creator of the beloved Frances Flamingo picture book series, which encourages children to build confidence, try new things, and treat others with kindness. Drawing on her background as a dance teacher and her deep love of storytime, Dottie’s books gently weave movement, imagination, and emotional growth into joyful adventures for young readers.

Dottie began writing and publishing children’s books later in life, inspired by her own journey of resilience, creativity, and faith. Her stories are especially meaningful to children who may feel “different,” helping them see their uniqueness as a strength to be celebrated.

In addition to writing, Dottie leads engaging author visits and workshops for schools and libraries, combining read-alouds, movement, and conversation to bring stories to life. She also teaches healing dance for neurological conditions and believes in the power of creativity to support both children and adults.

Dottie lives in Texas, where she continues to write, dance, and share stories that spark joy, confidence, and connection.

My Mission
My mission is to create joyful, confidence-building stories that help children discover their unique gifts and believe in themselves. Through the Adventures of Frances Flamingo series, I aim to inspire young readers to try new things, embrace challenges, and understand that courage grows with practice.
As a lifelong educator, dance teacher, and storyteller, I believe books can nurture imagination, emotional growth, and resilience. My stories are designed not only to entertain but to spark meaningful conversations between children, parents, and educators about perseverance, kindness, and self-confidence.
Frances Flamingo reminds children everywhere that they don’t have to be perfect to begin — they just need the courage to try.
